I purchased this antenna to give myself a good off satellite option to watching television. There are several “air only” channels that are not available on satellite or cable. This unit is designed to use indoors or outdoors. It is powered with a 110 volts power supply. The power supply attaches to an inline fitting so it can be mounted close to the television where power is available.
I mounted my unit outdoors for the best reception and it works very well. If I have any concerns it is the fact that the unit seems to be made with a very light plastic. I’m concerned about the degradation that may be caused by the bright sun and high temperatures of the Texas Gulf coast. Only time will tell.
I also believe that a strong over the air signal captured by antenna produce a much better HD picture than satellite or cable.
easy to use ,indoor or out, reception was about 15 or so channels indoor setup , I placed it on the third floor outside of the house and it picked up another 15 channels, followed all directions on the box, all in all a good alternate to subscribed reception if you only need regular channels .
I purchased this antenna and tried it under multiple configurations
Indoors:
1) Next to the TV
a)rotated north/south
b)rotated east/west
2) Next to window
a)rotated north/south
b)rotated east/west
3) Highest point in room, next to window
a)rotated north/south
b)rotated east/west
Outdoors: (at least 10 feet up)
a)rotated north/south
b)rotated east/west
None of these configurations yielded more than 7 out of about 30 channels. Just as a control, I grabbed the rabbit ears of my kid’s Disney Princess TV and got 23 channels. I HATE THIS ANTENNA DO NOT BUY IT!
Easy set up – good reception. We are in a very remote area and are able top pick up signal from over 100 miles at most times.
I live at bottom floor of a condo building where it becomes tricky and rather difficult to get a great signal with an indoor antenna. With this particular model, I was able to very good signal on almost 90% of the channels, but since I didn’t like the wires of the antenna to be in the way of my living room, I found a great scheme to put this antenna at the patio of my condo while at the same time keeping it powered. This antenna is practically useless without the power amplification. I m not sure why some of the reviews claimed that it works without the power amp, but it does not at all. So even if you hook it up outdoors, you will have to run a cable from the antenna to your power source first, then route it to your TV or splitters etc. After setting this device up outdoors, I am able to get 100% of my channels. There might be one or two channels where theres an occasion break up of signal due to high traffic on the streets, or some type of simple interference. Other then that, this thing is as good as it gets for me.
Overall for the price I paid, I think this product definitely delivers what it promises. Not to mention this is one of the cooler looking outdoor antennas out there. My neighbor had to stop to me ask what exactly this was, and I just described it as a fancy rabbit ear.
