I tried a few antennas from basic to mid-class models. ClearStream2 is well above them. I used it as an indoor antenna – excellent reception to pull over 50 stations (Sunnyvale, CA). The only weakness is weak reception of low VHF, but it is expected, and still usable, so not a big issue.
Very happy with ClearStream2. Highly recommended.
I am currently using an RCA amplified rabbit ears antenna on top of the TV, which I have had for a few years. It does OK but I needed something a little better. Doing some research on the web and reading other reviews about the Clearstream C2 antenna sounded promising, though some people did have problems. This antenna is rated up to 50 miles and the majority of my channels are in the 20 mile range so it sounded good.
Assembly was easy and I started my tests, first next to the TV which didn’t pick up anything, then I set it up by the window and I picked up a few channels. Next up into the attic with nothing again. I streched out a cable into the back yard and mounted on top of a wooden shed and nothing. I then tried it outside my window on a pole so that it was a couple feet or so above the roof line with results simular to the rabbit ears, though with a weaker signal compared to the rabbit ears. I even tried an inline amplifer, which boosted the signal number but did not improve the amount of signals. The net results is the $20 rabbit ears sitting on the tv performed as good or better than the C2 mounted above the roof line. I am returning the antenna for a refund.
According to [...], I live 15 miles away from my signal sources in DC and need a red antenna. I have this antenna inside my apartment window pointing in the direction advised by that website and receive good signal on all channels I’m supposed to get.
I did want to point out that this is the C2 antenna, not the C2-CJM package you’ll find at many retailers for a little more. This antenna is not the value pack which includes the mount. If you don’t need the mount you can save some money and buy this one, but if you do I’d look for the value pack which includes it.
I live near the beach in a 2 story townhouse in Orange County, CA. There are no visible obstacles in any direction and there are several broadcast towers within 30 miles, so I thought a 50 mile range would be fantastic. Unfortunately, I get about half of the channels all the time, most of the channels some of the time and a few of the channels never come in. What is most frustrating to me is the literature inside the box claims that “unlike analog antennas, digital antennas will not give you a fuzzy picture – you either receive the signal or you don’t”. However, I will be watching a program and the signal will go in and out on me regularly. Sure, there is no in between in terms of fuzz, but it could be even more annoying to have the picture completely disappear than to have it get fuzzy every now and then.
Great Antenna… works very well…but thought to write this to give some feedback to the manufacturer.
The instruction is extremly poor – I’s very bad. Can they hire someone to write a clear instruction how to put
the parts together. Additionally the design is very poor – where the cable need to connected….how to conected..the leg for indoor use, attachement to the bar…
It seems their engineering has not put any thought into customer use. After figuring it out it works great
The antenna does not stay on the railing/bar – I had to tie it to the bar /not included in the pachage.
Surly the design and instruction need to be improved to gain a totall customer satisfaction.
